Hi! My name is Nicole Defa and I am a tutor for Break the Mold. I love being a part of this program because it understands every student is different and tailors strategies to their needs. I believe each student is able to be empowered with confidence to achieve their goals. I have 1 year of experience working with grades 9-12 in all areas of learning and 4 years of experience working with grades k-5. I have taught and tutored elementary students in math, social skills, and phonics. I have begun to work toward my masters degree at Western Governs University in in Special Education. My motivation is seeing students not only build their learning skills but most importantly their confidence.
I’m Maycee! I am a wife, mom, and a dog mom. I graduated from USU Eastern with my Associates degree, working to become a teacher. My cute little family loves to travel and go on many adventures! I have a passion for working and helping children learn and grow, it’s amazing to see them progress and achieve many great things! I look forward to working with you and your kiddos.
Kind words from clients
“Mrs. Powell has been life changing for my son. In only one hour of tutoring a week, he has learned to read! Despite beginning well below grade level, he now reads at grade level. My son struggled with recognizing the sounds that make up words starting in pre-school. When he was diagnosed with dyslexia in 2nd grade, he was not reading at all, and could only reliably say the first sound in any word. Amanda completely understands dyslexia and having her tutor my son has been the best thing I ever could do for him.” - Amber Miramontes
